study of spheres
Please click on the images for a more detailed view.
The main wood in this piece is California Buckeye Burl. The specimen is a root structure, growing around rocks and dirt, which gives reason for the large void near the top. The free-form twisting movement contrasts the progressive stack of wood spheres dyed black. Hidden fasteners firmly join the spheres together and to the burl.
21" tall, 11" wide, 5" deep.
