This is a single plank of dyed and laminated birch wood, cut in two pieces and sculpted to match. The two pieces stand separately without touching. A silk cloth can be dragged between the forms. The grooves are a double-helix, winding like a candy cane from top to bottom. They represent two opposing and independent forms whose beauty is multiplied when matched together. Think of marriage. The base is steel and aluminum with dyed lacquer. The steel legs are eight inches long, bent cherry red hot and are inserted deeply into the base and wood, fastened beneath.
