This sculpture is made of a single slab of solid old-growth redwood burl. The entire perimeter is "live edge", contrasting strongly to the finely finished shaping. The sculpture exhibits an inverse symmetry, and symbolizes energies escaping entrapment: such as the indomitable human spirit escaping the clutches of power.
