Lignum Vitae is native to northern South America and southern Central America. There are similar species, such as Vera Wood, but none hold the alluring medicinal and old industrial use qualities as the genuine Lignum Vitae. It's one of the most endangered of all trees, but can still be acquired when a tree dies a natural death. This wood ties with Amourette as the world's heaviest wood, at 78 lbs. per square foot. It is also one of the hardest. This beautifully sculpted piece is made from a single mass, standing 11" tall, 9" wide, and 9" deep.
