The beautiful River Red Gum trees of Australia can develop incredible burl growths upon them. The dark voids throughout the wood are a characteristic of its growth structure, and are not the result of insect infestation or decay. The wood is heavy, hard, and better reddish color than my photographs have captured. The black base and ornamental feature is made of steel, serving as an armature for the wood, while hiding the fasteners.  Stands 14 inches tall. SOLD
