An Australian Red Mallee burl was used for the main wood on this piece, being cut in half and opened like a book. The wood was arranged so its natural outer edges face each other and an Australian Banksia Seed Pod was placed in the gap. Blue and Violet epoxy with pearl mica powder added for a glowing sparkle, was used to fill the gap. The base is made of solid cast iron and steel with four inch long fasteners entering from beneath.
