Sugar Maple
Please click on the images for a more detailed view.
The specific name for this wood is Fall Fiesta Sugar Maple. I believe this is the hardest of the non-burl maple woods. The sculpture is made from a single piece, but is divided into two. There is a gap in the center of the form, leaving no contact between the two pieces. The glow of this wood under light is incredible. It's chatoyance, or three dimensional "cat's eye" affect under light is of the best I've ever witnessed. The lines on the sculpture are shaped with great precision. Stands 23 inches tall and is mounted to black marble. SOLD
