lignum Vitae

Please click on the images for a more detailed view.

Lignum Vitae is the world's heaviest wood and second hardest, and translates from "Tree of Life". The sculptural form is made of a single mass, and consists of four weaving movements that come together at the top. No two sides are the same. It is VERY meticulously sanded, and texturing decorates some of the innermost areas. The sculpture stands 24 inches tall, and my photos hardly suggest the beauty this piece brings to a space.
