Memory of Home

A few sentimental items were brought to me by a customer from her childhood home that was demolished many years ago. The doorknobs and latch mechanism from the home's front door, the skeleton keys, and an old faded photograph of the home. She told me the meaning of the home and asked if I could incorporate these items into a piece of artwork, rather than merely keep them tucked away. The base material is West Texas Mesquite Burl. The hands supporting the sculpture represent the hands of God carrying our lives and families through life, no matter where they have moved to. A copy of the photograph of the home can faintly be seen behind the inlay of translucent alabaster.
