A "ring and pinion" is a common gearset used for increasing torque or reducing speed. The segmented internal ring gear is made of Red Mallee burl from Australia (licesne harvested), and mates with a cherry wood pinion gear. The base is made of jatoba, or Brazilian cherry wood.  Stands 10 inches tall, 13" wide, 8" deep.
