Andaman Padauk

Please click on the images for a more detailed view.

This species of Padauk comes from the Andaman Islands, south of Myanmar (Burma), and is the most vibrant red of the padauk woods. The shimmering glow in this wood's grain is more incredible than my photos can offer. The wood is sculpted to capture a twisted glass form without the use of adhesives or fasteners. A uniqueness of this wood species is its notably open-pore grain, This porosity can be seen in the detail photos. A complex finishing system containing strong UV inhibitors is used to maintain the natural redness. The base is solid steel.

18.5 inches tall.
