This a single piece of California Redwood, and is about 50% burl. I've sculpted the piece to harmonize with all the natural voids, inclusions, and natural "live edge". The myriad of grain formations show the many (perhaps hundreds!) of years of growth challenge. My shaping of the form expresses beauty amidst struggle, exemplifying this basic trait of all life. The mounting mechanism (a motorcycle clutch plate) allows numerous hanging positions.
