The main wood in this piece is California Buckeye Burl. The specimen is a root structure, and its character shows its stress. The free-form twisting movement contrasts the progressive stack of dyed wood spheres. This sculpture represents resurrection and ascension as a once-living underground being is brought back to life. The spheres hint astronomy as a distant power descends into earth to arise the form.

Hidden fasteners firmly join the spheres together and to the burl.

24" tall, 10" wide, 5" deep.
