A "ring and pinion" is a common gearset used for increasing torque or reducing speed. The segmented internal helical ring gear is made of White Top burl, and mates with plum tree wood pinion gear. The spiral bevel gear is made of cherry burl wood.  "Internal Ring & Pinion" stands 10.5 inches tall.
